What we train
- Jumping, with landing first: plyometrics built on good landing mechanics.
- Lower-body strength: more force into the floor for higher jumps and quicker movement.
- Shoulder and upper-back strength: upper back, rotator cuff and mobility.
- Core and rotational power: for arm swings and serves.
- By position: approach jump and arm-swing power for hitters, repeated jumps and lateral steps for middles, and low lateral movement for liberos.
Why it helps
- Landing softly is a key part of knee health, and female athletes are generally considered at higher risk of ACL injury in jumping and pivoting sports.
- Shoulder work helps players handle a high number of swings.
- We watch total jump and swing volume, maintaining strength in season and building it when there's a window.
How it works
Every high school and college athlete starts with an evaluation of their individual strengths and weaknesses. Group sessions run 80 minutes: 40 minutes of strength work and 40 minutes of speed and conditioning on our 6,000 sq ft indoor turf at 180 Bloomfield Ave, Floor 3, in Montclair. We recommend two to four sessions a week, depending on whether an athlete is in or out of season. Younger volleyball players build the base in our Youth and Junior High programs, and older players train in High School + College. Want one-on-one coaching or a session for a whole team?
